About · Piotr Ciechowicz

I work where strategy meets the reality of building.

Work and writing

A product manager who also builds.

I work across product strategy and development. The articles and projects here show the questions I focus on, how I make trade-offs, and what I build.

About the journal

What I write about.

  1. 01

    Product strategy

Choosing a market, setting priorities, shaping a roadmap, and deciding what not to build.

  2. 02

    Discovery and validation

Research, interviews, and experiments that help a team decide what is worth building.

  3. 03

    Design and delivery

Working with design and engineering to turn a product idea into software people can use.

  4. 04

    Leadership and growth

Stakeholder work, team habits, metrics, and the choices involved in growing a product.

In practice

I manage products and build them too.

I’m a product manager and developer based in Germany. I work on ambiguous product problems, from setting direction and testing an idea to getting a useful version into people’s hands.

Being able to work across product and code helps me test ideas quickly, understand technical constraints, and stay involved after the roadmap is agreed.

On reStruggle I share the methods, books, and lessons that have been useful to me while doing that work.

How I work

Four things I care about.

A practical approach to product work: get close to the problem, make informed choices, and keep learning through delivery.

  1. 01

    Start with the real problem

Understand user needs before choosing a solution or writing code.

  2. 02

    Use data with judgement

Let evidence guide decisions without pretending a metric can make them for you.

  3. 03

    Build to learn

Start with the smallest useful version, learn quickly, and improve deliberately.

  4. 04

    Bring the right people together

Bring design, engineering, and business into the same product conversation.

Why the name?

Building products is messy.
